As we move into our midyears and beyond, we all begin to face the big questions, questions that surround our own mortality. While some may have a living will or advanced directives, but, rarely do those answer all of the questions. And tragically, many of us reach the end of our lives without ever having discussed our deeper wishes with our loved ones. The sadness, the worry, the loneliness, and the fear that surround the end of a life can be overwhelming. The Five Wishes form created by Aging with Dignity (http://www.agingwithdignity.org/five-wishes.php) is an excellent place to start.
The conversation is difficult, but so deeply worthwhile to have before you find yourself in crisis.
