Seeing a good film is like stepping into a dream world: the theater goes dark and we feel ourselves transported to other lands. And reading is, as Joyce Carol Oates writes, “ the sole means by which we slip, involuntarily, often helplessly, into another’s skin, another’s voice, another’s soul.”
With these thoughts as our roadmap, we will spend the morning of Saturday April 12 journeying into the symbolic landscapes of these of two beautiful works of contemporary art, both in film and in print.
You may find that having read the books and or having seen the films will enrich the experience for you. But if you have done neither, I expect you will still enjoy the morning and find new landscapes to explore! I will be showing brief clips of each film to illustrate my points but neither will be shown in their entirety.
Join me for a morning of exploration!
